The intention of this Wiki is to provide additional documentation and tips on developing for the AVR Microcontrollers, using free tools. Free refers to four kinds of freedom:

• The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
• The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to your needs (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
• The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).
• The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements to the public, so that the whole community benefits (freedom 3). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

[edit] Why another AVR website?

avrfreaks and several other good sources are available. There is even a similar project by Steve Lacy, called AVR Wiki. The answer is simple: I'm sure we can provide a good supplement.

Some time ago I received to openavr domains from Ted Roth. My intention was to install a Wiki. Due to lack of time, I simply set a redirection to nongnu.org first. A few months later the server hardware died and, after moving to a new hardware, I thought it would be a good idea to finally install the Wiki pages.
